Jennifer Brown
Jennifer showed up on the doorstep of Push Pilates in 2005 after seeing a newspaper ad for the teacher training program. At that time, she was stuck in a post-college career rut and coming out on the other side of an extended illness. Looking for something positive to take her in a new direction, she decided to try going through a yoga teacher training program (she considers herself to be a lifelong yet terribly inconsistent yoga practitioner). After learning that Push didn’t offer that particular course, she took a leap of faith and gave Pilates a try. After a few intro classes, she began the immersion program, followed by the teacher training program…and the rest is history, as they say.

Her number one reason for teaching is to help clients feel better, physically and mentally, through Pilates. She hopes to complete that yoga teacher training program, one day, to add to her teaching toolbox. Her compassion towards others and her own experience on the mat shapes her teaching style, and she loves the energized feeling she gets from passing Pilates on to others!

Jennifer is a native Memphian, earning a BA in English in 2003 from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN, and returning to Memphis in 2004. She lives in Midtown Memphis with her husband JD and their two cats, Max and Grace. Besides teaching Pilates, she is also currently completing an AmeriCorps internship in Public Relations at the Church Health Center and is beginning to see the light at the end of the post-collegiate tunnel.
