Introduction

Each year Push Pilates offers a yearlong teacher training program. The program is broken up into two semesters. The first semester (six months) is the pedagogical portion. The student learns Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Pilates on the Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Barrel and Springboard apparatuses with the guidance of certificate holding instructors. In addition to learning the Pilates Method, students study anatomy, kinesiology, the history of Pilates and teaching skills.

The second semester (the next six months) is self-study and completion of the internship. The Internship is the heart of the Program. It allows the student time to apply their growing knowledge of the technique and to develop teaching and communication skills while being supervised.

The Internship is an opportunity for hands-on work, and to observe other teachers at work in a professional environment. Think of it as a primer for all real-life teaching situations.

The Internship experience, combined with the Formal Lecture Series and the student's desire, commitment, dedication and determination, prepares the student for the performance and written exams as well as the years of future teaching.

The Push Pilates Teacher Training Program is a huge commitment. You will be expected to master 800 hours of training with monthly evaluations tracking your progress. If you are not keeping up with any portion of the program you will be given a warning and/or asked to train with a certified instructor at an additional cost to the student.

Please understand that this program requires both mental and physical mastery of exercises, concepts and philosophies that develop through a weekly participation with the work.
